Lead singer duties were actually split between Mickey and Davy. If anything, Mickey was more the lead singer, as he sang more songs in the long run. Still sad that Davy’s gone though.
As for the folks here ragging on The Monkees, why? They were a good band, and have a number of still amazing songs. They deserve better then comparisons to “One Direction” or “Justin Beiber”. The Monkees broke free of their corporate bindings and did their own stuff over time, no one gives them credit for it.
